Southern New Hampshire Health is pleased to welcome Robert Catania, MD, FACS, FASMBS, to the health system.

Dr. Catania is bringing a knowledge of bariatrics to Southern New Hampshire Health and is opening a new practice. Southern New Hampshire Weight Management will be opening in the Riverside Medical Building, with Dr. Catania serving as Surgical Director.

Dr. Catania studied medicine at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He went on to complete his residency at Brown University Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI. Dr. Catania is fellowship trained in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. He has been practicing bariatric surgery since 2007. Since then, he has performed over 1,500 bariatric procedures.

“Obesity is a disease that is poorly understood by the public and by many medical providers. Patients with obesity are often stigmatized, and frequently suffer from discrimination and abuse. While many patients with obesity feel hopeless and helpless, managing obesity using the disease model in a judgement-free environment is a proven path to success,” Dr. Catania states. “By developing a center dedicated to comprehensive weight management, we can provide our patients access to cutting-edge therapy designed to maximize the effectiveness of care.”

Dr. Catania is accepting new patients. To become a patient of Southern New Hampshire Weight Management, you should contact the office directly or ask your primary care provider to place a referral.

Outside of the hospital Dr. Catania spends as much time as possible outdoors enjoying all the beautiful things New Hampshire has to offer like hiking, mountain biking, and skiing.

Welcome Dr. Catania!
