Congratulations to the latest High Five SHINE Award Winner – Jane Kulpa, HUC Pre-op/PACU!
“Jane is an exceptional employee who works as a health unit coordinator in both the Surgical Services waiting room and the Endoscopy waiting room. She has worked at SNHHS for just about 7 years and has dedicated herself to the positive experiences that patient’s, families and staff have when here at SNHHS. Jane maintains a calm, positive demeanor during at all times, especially as the first person patients interact with the day of their procedure. At times, family stressors can be projected to the front line waiting room staff, but her calm & friendly demeanor puts others at ease. Jane is able to ask pertinent questions to help improve communications and make the patient/family experience better. For example, she developed informational signage to better inform patient families about when they can expect to see their family member after they have spoken to the surgeon. She created a sign telling people that the receptionist will be back shortly if she has to walk a family into the Preop/PACU area and leave the desk. She also assists with way-finding for lost patients who come to surgical services inadvertently, even when they were supposed to be at another hospital. Thank you and congratulations Jane Kulpa!”
Keep up the great work Jane!
