“I clearly got world-class care. I couldn’t have been treated better than I was treated,” Mark Hagopian, a recovered COVID-19 patient, says about the care he received while at Elliot Health System.
Hagopian came to the Emergency Department at The Elliot after having trouble breathing. What he didn’t know was that he was COVID-19 positive, and that he wouldn’t see his wife for about a month.
Soon after he was admitted into the hospital his condition worsened. He was put on a ventilator and was in a medically induced coma. For 17 days, he was out, and it took the medical staff two days to wake him up.
Throughout his journey, the only communication his wife had with him was through his care team. They’d let her Facetime him, even though he was in a coma.
In this full interview, he talks about how incredible the staff at The Elliot were, how they kept his wife in involved in his care, and what he has learned after going through this life-changing event.
Thank you to the incredible staff who cared for Hagopian and helped his wife stay connected! We appreciate you. #heroesworkhere!
