Q&A with Michael DeLeo!

Get to know Michael DeLeo, MD, Foundation Radiology!

If you could be anyone/anywhere for one day, who/where would you be?

The hardest question for me is this first one because honestly, I don’t really know.  I have to say I’m quite happy who I am and where I am.  Sorry for the lame answer.  They get better (I hope)…

Favorite Movie?

Ghostbusters, and it’s not even close

Favorite Junk Food?

Well, after finding out that my lipid profile and candy didn’t get along, I’ve really tried to cut out as much junk food as I can. But that doesn’t mean I’m still not a sucker for maple cream spread over butter on toast (pretty much every night…is that bad?)

What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

I’m quite predictable and boring in general, but one time I went outside without sunscreen on..

What was your first job?

Pulling weeds at the Berkshire Eagle newspaper building in Pittsfield, MA.  Eight dollars an hour, cash.

Farthest you’ve traveled?

North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii.  This past spring on a big family trip to visit my sister who was doing a monthlong rotation in Honolulu as an Emergency Medicine resident

Favorite Band?

Metallica.  Like my answer to the movie question, this one really isn’t close either.

Last concert attended?

From beginning to end? Metallica.  Most recent concert I left early to have the babysitter home before midnight? G-Love and Special Sauce; missed the songs I-76 and Cold Beverages :

Favorite Book?

Being Nobody, Going Nowhere by Ayya Khema. Picked it up in college when I had hours to kill between events during track meets. Transformed a lot of my ways of thinking. I keep a copy in my nightstand and refer to it regularly.

Favorite Sport to watch on TV:

NBA Basketball.  The only Celtics game minutes I miss all year are those that go beyond 10pm when they’re on the west coast.

What would you sing at Karaoke night?

December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night) by the Four Seasons.  I’m a falsetto of Italian heritage like Frankie Valli.

Top 3 TV Shows?

Of all time? In no particular order: Mister Wizard’s World, Keeping up Appearances, Beavis and Butthead (yup)

Currently? Making a Murderer, Narcos, Mornings with Maria on Fox Business (this one straddles the line since I spend more time listening to this on Sirius XM than watching it)

If you could be anything (or have one job) for a day, what would you be/do?

This like question 1 is tough, but I think I’d like to be the co-pilot in an A380

Your 10 year old self wanted to be a:

Baseball player.  Was convinced at age 10 that I was the next Ricky Henderson: kinda small, speedy, bats right and throws left (the rarest combo), left fielder. Problem: he’s 5-10, 180; I’m 5-5, 140.  Still pursuing that dream though.

Commonly: Doing everything my three daughters want me to do with them. Which is a lot. All the time.  This includes dress-up and playing with dolls.

Rarely: Golf, Skiing (racing), Landscaping – couldn’t shake it after those early days pulling weeds

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

My wife and I both have siblings with Down Syndrome. They enrich our lives in ways that I cannot explain and teach us things I could never learn from anyone else.

Dr. DeLeo is one of the nicest Radiologists I have had the pleasure to work with and I have worked with quite a few. He is genuine and the patients love him!!! Especially after they find out he isn’t a student but truly an MD!! 🙂

  2. Immediate Care Amherst
Loved the interview questions and answers. He sounds like a great guy, fun to work with and know!
