ALS is a devastating, and fatal, nervous system disease that affects the brain and spinal cord and results in loss of muscle control. It knows no boundaries, affecting people of every race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status at an alarming rate. Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person loses their battle with ALS.

But we can do something to help.

SolutionHealth is participating in the virtual Walk to Defeat ALS on October 10. Will you join us?

“I’ve asked colleagues at both Elliot Health System and Southern New Hampshire Health to champion our cause by helping to recruit team members and raise awareness of our efforts,” says SolutionHealth President and CEO Sherry Hausmann. “Together, as Team SolutionHealth, we can raise funds, inspire hope, and create awareness.”

Rich Durant, an HVAC mechanic at The Elliot is one of those colleagues leading the charge. He walks for a very personal reason—to support his girlfriend Maria who was diagnosed with ALS three and half years ago. “I’m walking to raise money and awareness so Maria and others affected by ALS can have a cure. I encourage others to walk this year to show support for those who have been affected by ALS. The walk is once a year, it’s fun and it’s simple. Every walker brings us closer to finding a cure. Please join me this year in taking steps to finding a cure,” he says.

To motivate the team and support fundraising efforts, we will share stories of hope and inspiration in the coming days in News In Brief and on both SolutionHealthHQ and social media. Team members will also receive a SolutionHealth cloth face covering to wear on October 10.
