Rima Patel, MD, is one of the newest primary care providers within SolutionHealth. She sees patients at Family Practice of Merrimack. In this video, she explains how her unique medical school experience informs how she cares for her patients.
Dr. Patel attended medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Paul L. Foster School of Medicine in El Paso, TX. She says her experience living on the Texas/Mexico border helped her learn a lot about differences in care and quality along the border.
She says the language of commerce there was often Spanish, something she didn’t know. So, Dr. Patel had to learn Spanish, and learn about a new culture. She says that experience makes her keenly aware of personal and cultural sensitivities when meeting with her patients.
