Glenice L’heureux, MSN, RN, Clinical Nurse Manager at the Elliot CICU and CDU, in full PPE.
Through National Nurses Week and National Hospital Week we are looking at all the incredible work from our health care heroes. Every day our nurses are coming to work ready to take care of patients with care and compassion.
The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) and Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) at Elliot Health System have been instrumental in SolutionHealth’s mission to beat COVID-19.
In a four-week period, Glenice L’heureux, MSN, RN, Clinical Nurse Manager at the Elliot CICU and CDU, says the units have changed multiple times to meet the needs of patients. Staff have been working with both COVID-19 patients and non-COVID-19 patients.
While the hospital hasn’t seen a surge in cases, L’heureux says, “I have been very transparent with my staff. I listened to and acknowledged their feelings of fear and uncertainty and admitted my own. However, I vowed to be by their side through it all and together we will not only make it through, but we will make a difference in the lives we care for.”
To stay motivated and upbeat, she says humor and caffeine seem to be key! L’heureux explains, “Our staff find the positive in every situation and embrace every challenge. I cannot tell you how many times I have heard the statements ‘let’s do it,’ ‘we’ve got this,’ or ‘bring it on.’”
L’heureux wants to community to know: “2020 is the year of the nurse. Boy is it ever! I have never been prouder of my team and to be a part of this amazing organization!”
