Congratulations to the Clinical Support Services Employee of the Year for 2018, Catherine LaSalle, Environmental Services!
“Cathy goes above and beyond and is always looking for ways to improve. On Saturday, March 3rd, after cleaning East 448, (our Dialysis Room) Cathy felt so strongly that the space was in need of an upgrade she wrote a heartfelt email (below) to Mike Rose and Stephanie Wolf Rosenblum voicing her concerns. By doing so she touches upon each and every Core Value the hospital is built upon.
Patient Focused: “Recognize patient needs and comfort first. Respect: “Communicate in a clear, timely and thoughtful way.” Accountability: “Take responsibility for your roll.” Compassion: “Show empathy.” Commitment: “Work as an active team member for the good of the patient.”
Hello Ms. Wolf-Rosenblum and Mr. Rose, My name is Catherine LaSalle. I have worked at SNHHS for 10 years this coming April. I work for the EVS Dept. and truly love my job. I take pride in my work, trying my best to leave any area that I am assigned to, in a clean and presentable way. I have seen many improvements to the hospital over the years that make me proud. But I do have one area of concern that I would like to bring to your attention. Every time I clean this room, I feel sad and even disgusted by its appearance. No amount of disinfecting nor cleaning can make this room shine. I am asking that each of you please visit room East 448, our Dialysis room. It is a “haphazard” room. The plumbing is atrocious and has sprung leaks on numerous occasions. The people who are brought in for treatment already feeling sickly and the atmosphere surely will not help to improve their morale. Please consider this area for a long overdue upgrade!”
Awesome job Catherine! Keep up the great work!
