Recently employees from United Healthcare in North Carolina handmade 50 blankets and donated them to SNHH’s Oncology Department in memory of one of their coworkers, Tracey Leigh Smith Thompson.
Tracey was treated at SNHH and passed away on May 2, 2019 at the age of 37. Tracey battled metastatic breast cancer for seven years and was under Dr. Rao’s care. She worked remotely from home for UHC for over 15 years and established strong relationships with her coworkers during that time.
A couple of her bosses came up from North Carolina last week to get together with Tracey’s local coworkers – the group handmade 50 blankets in her memory.
Tracey’s family (parents, daughter, sister) and her UHC supervisors stopped by SNHH afterwards to personally hand out these blankets to our patients (pictured above).
As Tracey’s obituary read: “She was cared for by the wonderful Dr. Gautami S. Rao and the amazing staff at Foundation Hematology and Oncology in Nashua, for whom we are eternally grateful for giving us longer than we ever thought possible in 2012 with Tracey.”
Thank you to all involved in this amazing act of kindness.
