All month long, SolutionHealth is celebrating Social Work Month. The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is leading this year’s celebration with the theme “Social Workers are Essential” to highlight the invaluable contributions social workers make in our community, especially as we continue to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the last year, social workers have been on the front lines along with doctors, nurses, grocery store staff, and other essential workers. For instance, social workers help patients hospitalized with COVID-19 get the best quality care and the services they need to recover once they return to their families and communities. Others help community members coping with behavioral health issues and substance use disorder, often doing this job remotely.
Social work is one of the fastest growing professions in the United States according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). There are currently about 700,000 professional social workers in our nation, but that number is expected to rise to more than 800,000 by 2029.
We appreciate all that you do for our patients and the community!
